Sunday Highlight: November 3, 2024
We’re going to pray for two of our missionaries in South Asia today: Mike and Beth McKenzie. Now, South Asia is big, but they serve in the Himalayas — that mountain range between India and China. A number of the mountains are five miles tall — and Mount Everest is the world’s tallest.
There are many people groups in this rough region who have never heard the gospel. That’s why Mike and Beth are there and that’s why our church is so happy to help support them through our Cooperative Program giving.
Our missionaries cannot get to all those people themselves. They have been training local believers to go. So far they have trained people to visit 13 groups. Travel is by hours-long bus trips, with multiple changes and great danger through rough terrain.
The need for the gospel is very evident: poverty, alcoholism, poor hygiene, violence, etc. But four new believers were baptized in one group recently — now there are nearly 50! This response has pleasantly surprised local Christians, who now see that God will indeed bless their outreach efforts — anywhere.
Let’s pray for Mike and Beth as they train, encourage, and send out believers to people living at the ends of the earth.
