Sunday Highlight: August 10, 2025
In our prayer time today, let’s pray for two of our missionaries who have planted a church on a small island off the coast of West Africa. It’s an hour’s flight from Senegal and a much longer boat ride.
We’ll call our missionaries Moses and Beth. That’s not their real names — the two main religions on the island are Islam and spiritism, so we’re being cautious.
Moses is a native of Togo, another West African country. He went to the United States to attend Bible college and seminary. He met Beth, who had served two years as an International Mission Board missionary in Senegal.
Moses has majored in developing rural churches across Senegal. When God called him to plant a new church on that island off the coast, Moses fearfully argued, “But I can’t swim!”
He says the Lord answered him immediately with a verse from Isaiah 43 that promises God’s presence when one passes through the waters. He’s not fearful now, but he does wear a life vest faithfully on the crossings!
Our church is supporting Moses and Beth as they serve there in Africa through our Cooperative Program giving.
Let’s pray for them now.
