Sunday Highlight: April 27, 2025
Today let’s spend some time praying for two of our missionaries in Central Asia. We’ll call them Gary and Ann Warrior. That’s not their real names, but they have served there over 20 years.
It’s dangerous to talk about Jesus here. Gary does so every day, but he is careful. When he meets several local men to teach the Bible, he meets them in a local restaurant.
A big iron pot of rice pilaf called “plov” cooks over an open fire. Gary orders kabob sandwiches, the tasty staple fast food here that usually includes chicken or lamb. Black tea, strong and sweet, is always served in small glasses.
The men gather in a booth whose curtains can be drawn to they can talk in private. Then Gary begins teaching the Bible in the local language he has learned to speak well.
Gary prays this group will one day be a church. Others have sprung up around him, even in the isolated mountain villages. Gary and Ann want to share Christ with the millions of lost people here. But that will take planting many more churches.
Our church supports Gary and Ann through our Cooperative Program giving. Let’s pray for them.
