Sunday Highlight: September 15, 2024
In our prayer time today, let’s focus on Vancouver, B.C. — one of Canada’s most beautiful cities perched between the Pacific Ocean and mountains.
But the city is also filled with people of many lands, languages, and cultures — and few of them know Christ. The area is a huge missions challenge.
Juhyun and Mijung Park are the missionaries we’ll pray for today. Juhyun graduated from Korea Baptist Theological Seminary and served as pastor for 14 years before God called him to plant a new church in the Vancouver area.
Juhyun realized how urgently new churches are needed one day when he asked an immigrant about Christmas — the man did not know what that was.
In 2020, even as the COVID-19 pandemic raged, God led Juhyun and Mijung Park to plant a new church they called Clayton Gloria Community Church. It’s a multi-ethnic congregation, and they want to reach many of the young couples and immigrants who live in this fast-growing area. Juhyun says most people are friendly but shy away from talking about anything spiritual.
The church visits a local community center and parks to meet people of multiple generations and share the good news about Jesus.
Our church’s Cooperative Program giving is helping support Juhyun and Mijung there in western Canada. Let’s ask the Lord to bless their ministry so abundantly that many will come to faith in Christ.
