Sunday Highlight: September 18

In our missions prayer time today, let’s pray for Kevin and Rebecca Gibbs, two of our North American missionaries in Seattle, Washington. Kevin was a student minister in Texas until a 2014 missions trip opened his eyes to the urgent need for evangelism and new churches across Seattle. Now in Seattle as missionaries, he and Rebecca have planted Discovery Church to address those needs. Discovery meets in a community center north of downtown and the harbor.

Our church supports Kevin and Rebecca through the Cooperative Program. That’s also how we support the North American Mission Board that helped them start ministry in Seattle.

Seattle is a beautiful city, presided over by its soaring Space Needle. But because Jesus Christ is little known here, many people are left searching for hope and meaning. Discovery Church teaches members to answer such searching with the gospel.

Let’s pray that, through Discovery Church, many people will discover salvation available only in Jesus. And let’s ask God to send many more missionaries to this spiritual desert and carry the living water of the gospel.
