Sunday Highlight: March 10, 2024
Today in our prayer time let’s go to the East Coast, to the northern tip of coastal Massachusetts.
Gloucester is where our missionaries, Kody and Lindsey Aten, have planted a new church. We’re going to pray for them today because our church supports them through our Cooperative Program giving.
Kody’s background helps him talk to many kinds of people. He was born in Connecticut but grew up in North Carolina. He grew up around drugs and later in life became an addict.
He called out to God from a rehab center, was saved and put that old life behind him. Called to minister, he attended Fruitland Baptist Bible College in North Carolina and later Liberty University in Virginia and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo.
Along the way, God called Kody to plant a new church, specifically in Gloucester. He and Lindsey moved there in 2021 and started to plant Freedom Church. The next year, the church was able to start meeting in a church which had closed, a real blessing.
Let’s thank God for this new church, because many new churches are urgently needed in Massachusetts and across New England. Let’s thank God that Freedom Church is growing as people hear the gospel and respond.
