Sunday Highlight: September 7, 2025
Today, let’s pray for one of our missionaries in Central Asia. We’ll call her Morgan Walker, not her real name.
She’s there tracking down an unreached, unengaged people group in the region.
That’s a group with no missionary assigned and no known believers. They may not have the Bible in their language. They need to know Jesus. But they live in places not even Google Maps has mapped — in jungles or mountain regions.
There are 3,072 of these groups around the world.
Morgan is part of a new effort by our International Mission Board to reach these groups by sending out 300 explorers like her. After major training, she and a translator hit the road, er, path — and start hiking to where one of these groups is. She may live out of a backpack for six weeks, using a paper map and compass to navigate.
When she contacts a group, she’ll be prepared to share the gospel and learn more about the people. Her notes will help missionaries to be assigned later as funds allow.
Our church is hiking along with Morgan because our Cooperative Program giving helps support her.
Let’s pray for Morgan as she hikes for Jesus.
