“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” I Peter 4:10 NIV
When we use our abilities to help each other, God is glorified. God has wired us to make a contribution. He did not give us our talents and abilities for our own benefit. They are for the benefit of other people and their talents and abilities are to benefit us.
We are not all given the same talents or abilities. Some have great musical talents or mathematical minds. Others are generous givers or are gentle caregivers. Still others are mechanically inclined while others can make clear the Word of God.
Everyone has different talents. They are meant to be used. Are you using them to bless others? Are you using them to help others? If you don’t use them, others are getting cheated. One way you bring glory to God is by using your talents. “Use your gifts well to serve one another.” God is glorified when you use your abilities to serve others.
Think about these three questions:
- What gifts has God given to you?
- How are you using your God-given gifts to serve others?
- What are some other ways God might want you to use them for the benefit of others?
After some thoughtful soul-searching,
- Ask God how you can use your gifts to serve others.
- Pray that God will give each of us courage to reach our community for Christ.
