Pastor Ikaika Higa talks about what it means to be a Hawaiian. Ikaika says, “When we’re talking about Native Hawaiian, many people don’t know that there’s an indigenous population here in the islands. They’re part of the Polynesian Triangle. If you’ve ever met a Samoan, a Tongan, a Tahitian, a New Zealand Maori, Hawaiians are in that category.”
The Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention asked Ikaika Higa to discuss cultural issues that would benefit anyone coming to serve Christ in Hawaii.
Ikaika is pastor of Hāmama Community Church on the Windward side of O’ahu.
Ikaika was raised on Maui, while his wife, Stacey, grew up in Indiana. They met at Gateway Seminary, and both shared a desire to tell others about Jesus in ways that speak to their hearts. Ikaika and Stacey are not perfect people, but they serve a perfect God who loves each of us. Learn more about their ministry at hamamachurch.org
